University of Queensland is offering a great opportunity for PhD researchers to participate in a project which will complement a larger project focused on integrated “up-stream” solutions to prevent, detect and respond to water-related disease, as well as to mitigate degradation of downstream resources and ecosystems on which people rely for nutrition, livelihoods and cultural services. The successful student would be part of a vibrant research group focussing on sustainability challenges. This project is expected to be a portion of a PhD Project, with space for other related projects. It comes with a scholarship top-up and travel support to Fiji.

Eligibility:

  • An excellent PhD candidate to work with Dr Carissa Klein and Dr Amelia Wenger  in collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Society Melanesia and Fiji programs on this innovative, multidisciplinary project. 
  • Ideal candidate will have experience tackling public health and ecosystem health questions and will have strong communication skills.

Scholarship Value: 

$7,000 per annul with additional financial support to travel to Fiji

Selection criteria:

  1. Demonstrated quantitative skills
  2. Experience in the public health and environmental conservation fields
  3. Willingness to travel abroad
  4. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
  5. Ability to work both within a multidisciplinary team and independently
