Oxford University in the UK invites academically outstanding students from all over the world to apply for Ertegun Scholarships for Masters and Doctorate degrees in Humanities. The University seeks to choose the very best students who will realize Mica Ertegun’s Mission and one day become leaders in their chosen fields.

Opportunity Disciplines:

  • Classical archaeology.
  • English Language and Literature.
  • Fine Art.
  • History (including History of Art and the History of Architecture).
  • Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics.
  • Medieval and Modern Languages (covering most European languages and their literature).
  • Music.
  • Oriental Studies (including Far Eastern and Middle Eastern Studies.
  • Philosophy.
  • Theology and Religion.
  • Film Aesthetics.
  • Women's Studies.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must apply to start a new full-time course in one of the funded fields.
  • Applicants must meet the admission criteria for entry to their course, including English language requirements.
  • This scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other awards. Awards may only be offered for students starting a new graduate course. Current graduate students are not eligible to apply for funding for a second or third year of their course.

Funding:

  • The scholarship covers full tuition fees.
  • An annual grant for living costs (around £ 15,009).
  • Accommodation in Ertegun House.

Other Benefits:

  • Opportunities to participate in social occasions, lively lectures, performances, and other activities developed expressly for Scholars in Ertegun House.
  • The scholarship is renewed according to the duration of the course based on the researcher's satisfactory academic progress.

Selection Process:

  • Stage 1: The student conducts an interview with the representative of the college via video or phone.
  • Stage 2: Applicants are nominated to the selection committee by colleges.
  • Stage 3: Successful candidates are selected by the Selection Committee made up of the Head of Oxford’s Humanities Division and one representative from each of the eligible faculties, acting in consultation with the Board of Ertegun Overseers.
