All travel, lodging, and program activity costs will be covered by the U.S. Mission to ASEAN, in cooperation with Wedu as the implementing partner.
The Academy aims to:
To build a strong network of young Southeast Asian women leaders who work across national borders to solve common problems and nurture a strong ASEAN identity and community;
To empower emerging women leaders and help them advance their careers by providing access to advanced skills training and networking opportunities; and
To build economic capacity among emerging women leaders and contribute towards a people-oriented ASEAN that includes the full participation of women in the economy.
The in-person Academy will include:
Individualized Leadership Assessment
Mentoring Sessions
Networking opportunities
Training Sessions led by Industry and Sector Leaders and Shapers
Discussions of Key Gender and Economic Development Issues within the Region
Eligibilities
A YSEALI Member
A citizen and current resident of YSEALI member countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Timor-Leste;
Ages 20 – 30 (at the time of application and workshop);
Have at least a tertiary-level education qualification (e.g. Higher National Diploma, Degree or equivalent);
Have relevant experience and/or interest in areas of economic empowerment gender equality, women’s empowerment, or other related topics;
Passionate about building communities and have a keen interest in building a network through collaboration and partnership with other Southeast Asian countries;
Fluent in written and spoken English;
Have a valid passport that expires after October 2020 (at least 6 months’ validity);
Must be able to participate fully throughout the entire program from March 30 – April 3, 2020 (includes travel days) – If you are coming from a smaller airport, you will need to plan for additional travel days before and after the above dates.
