Duties

Qualifications

Education

Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in the fields of law, criminology, public administration, political science, international relations, or related fields of criminal justice, crime prevention, and/or law enforcement. Also, a first-level university degree or equivalent academic education, professional training with certification from a recognized international/national police, customs or other staff training institution, with specialization in criminal justice, crime prevention, a criminal investigation, law enforcement, border management, border working techniques and/or other related areas, in combination with additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Furthermore, certification or other qualifications in training design and delivery is an advantage.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in the law-enforcement including counter-narcotics, transnational organized crimes, rule of law field, and program management is required.

Additionally, at least two years of experience related to law enforcement training at an international level is required

Furthermore, work experience in the United Nations system or a similar international organization is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position, the incumbent must have fluency in English. Likewise, the working knowledge of Russian is highly desirable. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
