European Space Camp is an annual week-long summer camp held at the Andøya Space Center in Northern Norway. The next camp is held from August 1st to 8th 2021. ESC gives the opportunity to 24 young adults to spend six days running different aspects of a real rocket campaign including the launch itself. Scattered throughout the week are a number of lectures from some of Europe’s top scientists and engineers on topics varying from rocket physics to the northern lights.

The week is not purely group work and lectures, plenty social activities are organised too. There is a hike up the mountain to the ALOMAR research station, swimming under the midnight sun followed by a trip to the sauna, as well as volleyball and a GPS challenge, all in the stunning surroundings of the Andøya Space Centre. If you are interested, head over to the apply tab to find out how to be a part of ESC.

All ESC participants stay at the Space Center’s hotel in a double room, shared with another participant. All rooms come equipped with an en suite bathroom and sheets and towels are provided, as well as wifi. The Space Center’s cafeteria caters for all of the meals at camp, and all moderate dietary restrictions are catered for.

The Space Center also comprises an auditorium, smaller meeting rooms and working rooms equipped with computers. In addition, there is a sauna and a games room complete with a pool table and table tennis table.

Application deadline:  31 March 2021.

How to apply:

To apply, you have to create a profile at this site and navigate to the application tab in the profile section. There you will find five short questions that you have to answer. Also, you will have to upload your CV, two recommendation letters, a transcript of your latest grades and proof of English proficiency. You can find more information about these documents in the FAQ under the ‘Contact’ tab.

You can save your progress and continue your application at a later time. It is therefore highly recommended to have tested the application system before the last day. Please contact inge@spacecamp.no if you have any problems.

Please note that European Space Camp is aimed at youth with an academic background in high school level physics and math at most. If you are already enrolled in university studying Engineering or Physics, then this course is not for you. In particular, ESC is not looking for students already studying Aerospace Engineering. There are other opportunities for university students with an Engineering background, such as Fly A Rocket (ESA). However, university students enrolled in a course unrelated to Engineering or Physics may still apply as long as the other requirements for application are met.

There is a number of scholarships for participants.

Application requirements:

17-20 Years old Born between January 1st 2001 and December 31st 2004 (no exceptions!).
