The Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa) invites young Lebanese professionals and Lebanese volunteers to apply for a CrossCulture Fellowship (CCP) in Germany. The goal of the CrossCulture Programme is to strengthen lasting civil society networks between Germany and countries across the globe. The program was launched in 2005 and now counts over 750 alumni to its ever-growing network. The program provides participants with more intercultural skills and deepens their expertise, which leads to the development of their home organizations when they return to them and apply experiences gained abroad in their working lives.

Professional fellowships are awarded for a period of eight to twelve weeks in the following terms:

  • Summer term: May to August 2020
  • Autumn term: September to December 2020

Fellowship Fields:

  • Politics & society.
  • Human rights & peacebuilding.
  • Sustainable development.
  • Media & culture.
  • Civic & citizenship education.
  • Digital civil society.

Essential Qualifications:

  • The applicant must be between the ages of 23 and 45 at the time of the application.
  • Good written and spoken English skills.
  • At least two years of proven professional experience or volunteer work in a civil society organization in the country of origin.
  • The applicant is in good health for a longer stay abroad.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • The applicant should preferably:
  • Has been and is socially engaged for the long-term in Lebanon.
  • Prove full-time experience in his or her field of work.
  • Cooperate or plan to cooperate with an organization in the target country.
  • Possess other language skills, particularly, German language skills.

Funding:

The fellowship covers the following costs:

  • A monthly allowance of 550 euros.
  • Roundtrip airfare.
  • Accommodation fees.
  • A monthly ticket for public transport within the place of residence.
  • A refund of applicable visa fees.
  • Health insurance.

Responsibilities:

  • Communication and consultation with the program team as well as the respective host organization.
  • Submission of a final report.
  • Participation, as appropriate, in accompanying events (workshops, training, etc.)
  • Securing leave of absence from the employer.
  • Preparation for the application for a short stay visa (Schengen visa).
  • Assessment of potential risks and impacts on their own work and that of others in the country of residence (due to the participation in the program).
