The Chinese Government Scholarship Program is now available for international students out of China who want to study a Master's or PhD degree. You will do your studies at Harbin Institute of Technology HIT which is ranked No.2 in China and No.6 globally according to the US News ranking for the Best Global Universities for Engineering.

Conditions and Eligibility Criteria:

  1. International students out of China or former graduates of Chinese universities (non-Chinese nationality)
  2. Applicants for master’s degree studies must have a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35; Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
  3. Excellent performance in study.
  4. Applicants should have good ability in scientific research.
  5. Applicants without adequate Chinese proficiency are required to take a one-year Chinese language course and need to pass HSK test 4 to continue the scholarship. Failure to reach the required language proficiency (HSK 4) will lead to the automatic termination of scholarship.
  6. Note: The scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship.

Benefits:

  1. Exempt from registration fees, tuition fees, and accommodation fees.
  2. 800 RMB per year for Comprehensive Medical Insurance.
  3. Monthly stipend is granted to the students at the following rates:
  • Master’s degree candidate: 3,000 RMB/month
  • Doctoral degree candidate: 3,500 RMB/month

Scholarship Duration:

  1. For Master’s Degree Students: the duration of the scholarship is 2-4 years.
  2. For Doctoral Degree Students: the duration of the scholarship is 4-5 years.

Application Materials:

The applicants need to provide the following materials:

  • Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship.

  • Highest full-time study diploma.
  • Transcripts. 
  • A study or research plan (no less than 800 words in English or Chinese).
  • Two recommendation letters by professors or associate professors in English or Chinese.
  • Passport copy (Valid for one year at least).
  • Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  • Bank Receipt of Material Assessment Fee: 60 USD or 400 RMB
  • Applicants should post the paper application materials with a copy of the remittance receipt. Paper materials and material assessment fees are non-refundable.
