Siemens Digital Grid Turkey offers an internship opportunity for students of electrical or control engineering where the candidate will perform as a Part-time Grid Control Engineer. He will also be responsible for supplying creative feedbacks for increasing the quality of the service operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing the technical service & implementation operations (Modelling SLD, Parameterization of SCADA/DMS system, Point to Point tests, Commissioning, modifications, installation, repairing, updates, etc...).
  • Understand the prospective customer’s needs and problems and arrange necessary actions to create the appropriate solutions.
  • Communicate with customers in a professional, efficient, pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Provide technical support for Siemens Grid Control Systems.
  • Document all customer interactions.
  • Redirect problems to appropriate R&D if it is needed.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this internship, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • 3rd or 4th-year undergraduate student or master student in Electrical or Control Engineering.
  • Able to work 2-3 days/week in ODTÜ Teknokent during wintertime, 4-5 days/week during summertime.
  • Solid know-how or experience on Distribution Networks, Power System Analysis.
  • Basic know-how on Linux or Solaris Operating systems.
  • Know-how on TCP/IP networking, Router & Switch configurations, IEC Protocols.
  • SW development know-how and/or experience on C++ Programming and Java Programming is a plus.
  • Oracle or PL/SQL know-how is a plus.
  • Perl knowhow is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent command of English and/or German.

  • No restrictions for traveling.
  • Military service should be completed for male candidates.

About:

The Siemens Tram Consortium (STC) is currently building the flagship Tram system, called the People Mover System (PMS) for Qatar Education City (QEC) in Doha/Qatar. The People Mover System (PMS) is the first low floor catenary-free tram system in the world. It uses a Hybrid Energy System (HES) which incorporates a combination of supercapacitors and batteries to power the tram between charging locations along the line. It is manually operated on the line of sight rules and the system is being designed in compliance with BO Straub regulations and guidance. There is 11 km of track serving both North and South Campuses of Education City and will employ 19 trams using the Avenio tram chassis by Siemens.
