27th International Biennial Exhibition of the Modern Exlibris – Malbork 2020

About:

Over its many years, the International Biennial Exhibition of the Modern Exlibris has become one of the most distinct forms of activity engaged in by the Malbork Castle Museum. Ever since the first edition in 1963, it has been enjoying continued recognition of graphic artists from across the world, and of connoisseurs familiar and excited about this form of graphic art. Over the past 55 years, we have held 26 editions of this regular and unique artistic event, which has crowned the Malbork Castle as global centre of the artistic exlibris, all exhibitions organised to mark the occasion turning into events attracting large groups of visitors.

While the Biennial Exhibition has been held regularly every two years, we have already witnessed a number of deviations from the set rule. Such change has never brought any deterioration in popularity or the overall artistic quality of the event – on the contrary: artists were afforded a “breather”, allowing them to better prepare for the show.

We wish to hereby inform you that this year – for organisational reasons, among others – we have decided to take a longer break. The next edition of the 27th International Biennial Exhibition of the Modern Exlibris has been postponed to 2020.

We wish to concurrently assure you that in line with the many years of tradition, the Biennial Exhibition shall preserve its well-known formula.

In view of the change to the dates planned, you will receive invitations to attend the competition in September 2019. Moreover, I have the great pleasure of informing you that our Biennial event will include an accompanying exhibition of the extensive oeuvre of Paulina Binek, an artist from Gdańsk.

I hereby wish to extend a heartfelt invitation to join on at this extraordinary artistic occasion which has become our pride and joy, as well as a regular item on the schedule of leading cultural events, not only those organised at the Malbork Castle.
