Scholarships are available to pursue research and are awarded in the field of law, political science or contemporary history. The Foundation will grant one scholarship and two research grants for the academic year. Applications are invited for the Krzysztof Skubiszewski Scholarship and Research Grant for the academic year. The scholarship and the research grant are open to candidates from Central Europe, the Balkans, the Baltic States, Eastern Europe, Russia, Central Asia & the Caucasus.

Eligibility

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the  scholarship:

  • Applications are welcomed from candidates from any of the countries listed in the title of the present announcement, except Poland;
  • The scholarship and the research grant are open to candidates, who hold a master’s degree or equivalent;
  • Have successfully defended their doctoral thesis (or have significant academic achievements);
  • Have accomplished works of significant importance in the public interest, especially in the area of promoting democracy and the rule of law;
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are under forty years of age;

How to Apply?

You can send your application via electronic mail to stypendia.studium@uw.edu.pl  A confirmation of receipt will be emailed to you. • A curriculum vitae in English or in Polish.
  • A letter describing your motivation and the proposed program of research to be undertaken during your internship or your academic visit. If you apply both for a scholarship and for a research grant, then you can indicate separately what program you want to undertake if you receive the scholarship, and what — if you receive a grant.
  • Copies of academic diplomas and, when appropriate, documents substantiating your works performed in the public interest, your social or political activities, your professional experience or your experience in the public service.

  • Certificates confirming proficiency in foreign languages, if you hold such certificates.
  • A letter of recommendation from your academic supervisor, a person to whom you report in your work or another person who can confirm your level of preparedness for the internship or the academic visit.
