Utrecht University presents its scholarship with the name Holland scholarship in 2020. The scholarship is meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA = the EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) who wish to pursue a master’s degree in Holland. It's financed by the Dutch ministry of education, culture & science and Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. There are 18 scholarships are available for the 2020-2021 academic year. 

Eligibility:

To be eligible for a Holland scholarship, You should meet the following criteria: 

  • You shouldn't hold an EU/EEA passport and not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans.
  • You mustn't have been enrolled at an educational institution in the Netherlands before.
  • You should apply for an international master’s program at Utrecht University with a start date of 1 September 2020.
  • The international master’s program at Utrecht University is not a distance learning/online program.
  • You should meet the specific entry requirements of the program.

  • Your application will be assessed on the following criteria:
  1. Your academic background as demonstrated in your application to the master’s program.
  2. Your motivation explaining the relevance of your time in the Netherlands and at Utrecht university to your future goals.
  3. The quality and feasibility of your financial plan.
  4. You should be able to comply with the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa/residence permit.

Funding:

  • The scholarship amounts is € 5,000, € 10,000 or € 15,000. 
  • You will receive this in the first year of your studies, even if you are enrolled in a two year program.
