Description

Summer School as School is an art and schooling platform, stationed in Prishtina (Kosovo), with collaborating partners in Ljubljana, New York, Belgrade, Vienna, Oslo, Skopje, and Sarajevo. The programme for 2017 is structured as a hub with nine courses, combining theory-based and production classes, public lectures and presentations, guided tours, exhibitions and performances, producing a unique experience, and a model. Summer School as School is designed to unite and disseminate critical knowledge and address relevant challenges of today, implementing new models and possibilities in art education and artistic collaboration.

Summer School as School 2017 courses are:

Course 1: In the Museum of History by Boris Buden, Course 2: Performativity and its Institutional Ethics by Keti Chukhrov, Course 3: Curating and Global Feminisms by Jovana Stokić, Course 4: Exhibiting: (En)Countering Temporalities by Rike Frank, Course 5: The Rearview Mirror by Felix Gmelin, Course 6: Painting (Re)Framed by Adrian Deva, Course 7: Publication as Medium by Triple Canopy, Course 8: Evanescent Institutions: Architecture Exhibitions and the Politics of the Temporal by Marina Otero, Course 9: Memory and Typography by Toledo i Dertschei.

Summer School as School as a platform is further developed through exhibitions, public lectures, presentations and performances. The Public Program is designed as an intervention into courses held during Summer School as School and a platform for collaborations with the public.

Eligibility

Summer School as School is designed for visual art students, students of art history and curatorial studies, set design and film students, artists, architects, curators and anyone interested in art, architecture and art education.

Language of instruction is English.

Scholarships

A total amount of the fee for the summer school is 300 EUR. A limited number of scholarships is provided on the request. 

How to apply

The application deadline is April 30, 2017.  The results will be announced no later than 5 May 2017.
