Disney company announces it's backend java developer internship in Seattle, the USA for summer 2020.

Job Summary:

On the messaging team, You get to work with all the different segments of the Walt Disney company and bring cutting edge technologies to them at enterprise scale. A mix of senior and junior developers, it strives to stay ahead of the ever-changing landscape of messaging (whether it emails, push notifications, or messaging to cars) while maintaining a strong work-life balance. Disney is looking for an intern to assist on its multi-channel messaging platform, which is responsible for delivering over 259,000 messages per second to their fan, viewer, and guest devices around the world. 

Eligibility:

If you want to be accepted at this opportunity, You should have:

  • Java programming experience.
  • Completed at least one data structures or algorithms course.
  • Completed or taking a networking course.
  • Knowledge of AWS service offering.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL database technologies such as MongoDB.
  • The ability to work on a team and understanding of team-based dynamics.
  • The desire to work on a back end system.
  • You can be a sophomore, junior or senior level undergraduate student or recent graduate (within 6 months of graduation) pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, computer engineering, software development, or related fields.

You also must:

  • Be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past six (6) months OR currently participating in a Disney college program or Disney professional internship.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization.
  • Housing: Interns must provide their own housing for the duration of their internship program.

Your Responsibilities:

If you are accepted at this internship, you will be responsible for:

  1. Participating in sprint planning and tracking work items.
  2. Writing code in Java and possibly other languages.
  3. Working as a member of a larger team.
  4. Self-directing (Some tasks may only have high-level descriptions and it's expected you to figure out what needs doing).
  5. Asking questions when you cannot find the answers you need.
