UN Volunteers offers an online volunteering opportunity in the translation of web stories, press releases and publications to Spanish from English. Within the CCA unit, the work focuses on resilient livelihoods, food and agricultural systems, water management, climate information, resilient ecosystems, and ecosystem-based adaptation, making the use and supply of energy more environmentally sustainable, affordable and accessible, to promote low emission and climate-resilient urban and transport infrastructure, and to improve water and ocean governance and management and to sustain livelihoods at the local, national, regional and global scales.

In all, the UNDP CCA Team seeks 4 Spanish to join the communications unit and provide ongoing support.

Responsibilities:

  1. Occasional translation to English from the language may also be required.
  2. The translators will work in collective groups to both translate and edit translations to ensure high-quality final products.
  3. The translators will report to UNDP’s Communications Lead for Climate Change Adaptation.
  4. Both small and larger projects will be assigned.
  5. When available, translators will be given credit within the translated section.
  6. Breakdown of translation deliverables are as follows: - Translate 10 press releases - Translate 5 web stories - Translate 2 publications - Edit translations from other UNVs to ensure high-quality products (17) - Translate video scripts (4) - Translate social media assets (20)

Requirements:

  1. Qualified translators for Spanish.
  2. Good language skills.
  3. Understanding of climate change adaptation, UNDP, the Paris Agreement and SDGs highly desired.
  4. Familiarity with technical language around international development.
  5. Professional translators, journalists, communications specialists encouraged to apply.
