Google is offering an internship opportunity in technical writing in the summer of 2020 in the United States. Technical Writers take complex information and communicate it clearly, concisely, and accurately without relying on technical or corporate jargon. The applicant can be from any academic background provided he is interested in writing and has some experience in programming languages like Java, C ++ or JavaScript.

About the Internship:

  • Technical writers at Google are the key link between engineers, marketing associates, and developers.
  • You juggle a variety of writing projects, such as technical concept documents, how-to guides, example code, FAQs, and product announcements.
  • As a Technical Writer for Google's developer products, you'll contribute to one of several web sites that educate developers about new tools and technologies for building web, mobile, and cloud-based apps.
  • You'll work with other Technical Writers, Engineers, and Product Managers to determine which new developer features need documentation, then create document plans, draft new developer guides, and resolve issues with existing documentation to keep it up to date.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master or Ph.D. degree.
  • Relevant experience, such as technical writing, product documentation, or online publishing including experience with writing technical customer-facing materials.
  • Experience with source code written in languages such as Java, JavaScript, PHP, and Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with technical writing, product documentation, online publishing, or web programming.
  • Ability to cope with fast-paced and constantly changing environments.
  • Interest in writing matched with an ability to write clearly and informatively.
  • An interest in and curiosity about technology.
  • Demonstrated communication skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and use new APIs and developer tools, then create documentation plans.
  • Write documentation for developers, including "how-to" guides, reference manuals, technical overviews, and more.
