The United Nations offers an internship opportunity at Sub-Regional Office for North Africa of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, based in Rabat (Morocco). The internship will be undertaken under the overall guidance of the Director of the office and the supervision of the Economic Affairs Officer. 

Duration and Working Hours:

This internship is a full-time job (35 hours/week) of minimal duration of 4 months with a possibility of extension up to a maximum period of 6 months and it is not remunerated.

Qualifications:

  1. To qualify for an internship, applicant must meet one of the following condition: (a) Be enrolled in a graduate school program in economics (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program in economics (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); (c) Have graduated with a university degree.
  2. Strong skills in economics.
  3. Strong skills in applied econometrics and computer literate in standard software applications, Eviews and STATA.
  4. Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  5. Have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  6. Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the United Nations Internship program.
  7. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Program. Working knowledge of French is an asset.
  8. Possessing the following skills:
  • Teamwork.
  • Client Orientation.
  • Planning and Organizing.

Duties:

Under the general guidance of the Economic Affairs Officer, the intern will undertake the following assignments:

  1. Contribute to the macro-econometric modeling activity of the office.
  2. Contribute to analytical papers of the office.
  3. Participate in the organization of workshops.

Required Documents:

The Cover Note must include: 

  1. Title of degree currently pursuing.
  2. Graduation Date (When will the applicant be graduating/ have graduated from the program).
  3. IT skills and programs the applicant is proficient in. 
  4. Top three areas of interest.
  5. An explanation why he/she is the best candidate for this specific internship.
  6. Explanation of his/her interest in the United Nations Internship Program. 

Online Personal History Profile must include:

  1. All past work experiences.
  2. IT skills.
  3. Three references.
