Doha Institute for Graduate Studies offers a wide variety of scholarships annually to attract academically qualified students from within and outside the State of Qatar. The scholarships vary, some awarded on the basis of merit and academic competition, while others are based on financial need.

Terms and Conditions:

  • No student may combine the scholarships of the Institute with any other scholarship whatever the source thereof.
  • Only students who have good academic standing continue to benefit from the Institute's scholarships. The Institute may, in accordance with its procedures withdraw scholarships from students who violate this requirement.
  • The scholarships offered by the Institute shall not benefit the students enrolled in the Executive Masters or Diploma programs or specialized certificates.
  • Scholarships offered by the Institute shall not benefit students who have previously benefited from the same scholarship in a previous period of study in any of the programs of the Institute, whether or not they are awarded a degree.

Scholarship Types:

Tamim Scholarship: These scholarships based on merit and academic excellence. It is dedicated to the most distinguished Qatari and international students in the Arab world. 

Funding:

  • For Qatari students and residents in Qatar: The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fees for students according to each program.
  • For international students:
  • Full tuition fees coverage.
  • Free accommodation in institute dormitories.
  • A monthly stipend. 
  • Health insurance. 
  • Two travel tickets from and to home country upon arrival and after graduation.

Additional Terms:

  • Students are not entitled to adjust scholarship benefits or claim cash allowances for benefits that they do not benefit from.
  • The conditions of the scholarship shall not change with the change of the legal status of students in Qatar, except with the approval of the Institute.
  • In order to encourage academic excellence, the Institute can open the application for this scholarship for the Institute's students who have obtained a degree of excellence after completing one academic year at the Institute.

Sanad Scholarship: These scholarships based on the financial needs of students. It is dedicated to Qatari, Residents in Qatar and international students. 

  • For Qatari students: The scholarship includes covering a program's fees (10 to 100 %) According to the following categories:
    • Students who do not have jobs, whether in the government, semi-government, or private sector.
    • Students who work in private sector institutions that are not included in the institutions approved by the government scholarship program.
  • For international students:
  • Full tuition fees covered, 
  • Free accommodation in institute dormitories, 
  • A monthly stipend, health insurance, and 
  • Two travel tickets from and to home country upon arrival and after graduation.
  • Health insurance.

Required Documents:

  • Admission application form.
  • Recommendation Letter.
  • Identification document: Qatari ID for citizens and residents of Qatar.
  • Undergraduate transcripts. Senior year students should submit all their obtained transcripts to date.
  • Graduation certificate or diploma for graduates.
  • Resume (CV).
  • TOEFL or IELTS results or official statement stating that the degree was taught in English as a main language of instruction.
  • Personal Statement.
  • Academic Essay (for applicants to the School of Social Sciences and Humanities).

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies:

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) is an independent institute for learning and research in the fields of Social Sciences, Humanities, Public Administration and Development Economics in Doha. The DI welcomed its first cohort of students in the academic year 2015-2016. It is planned that student enrollment will eventually reach between 350 and 400, with study at the doctoral level gradually opening at the start of the 2017-2018 academic year.

Programs of study are offered at the master’s degree level in three schools: The School of Social Sciences and Humanities, the School of Public Administration and Development Economics and the School of Psychology and Social Work.  In addition, the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies at the DI offers a master's in Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action.
