The World Food Program (WFP) is offering a great internship opportunity as a PD Summer intern. The intern will be responsible for forming a systematic electronic library (at Sharepoint and/or Teamspaces) of identified literature with the aim to share available documentation and Performing other related tasks and duties as required. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct desk-review of the available literature (at corporate, regional and CO level) of the school feeding activities in the Asia and Pacific region
  2. Form systematic electronic library (at Sharepoint and/or Teamspaces) of identified literature with the aim to share available documentation within and outside the region (based on the proposed structure of the catalog by the PD Intern and agreed with the supervisor)
  3. Draft Case Studies for the School Feeding activities in the region (formulated by country, based on the Case Study topic and structure designed and agreed with the supervisor)
  4. Perform other related tasks and duties as required.

Qualifications:

  1. Currently enrolled in a master’s degree program OR a recent graduate of a master’s degree (graduated within the last 6 months)
  2. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook)
  3. Excellent English verbal and writing skills
  4. Knowledge of international development, socio-economic and social policy as well as familiarity with social protection and cash-based transfers; familiarity with the Asia and Pacific region is desirable.
  5. Experience in operational research and analysis, reporting, compiling information is desirable.
  6. Demonstrated interest in and capacity to deliver knowledge management and/or organizational learning
  7. Excellent team player with the ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural team
  8. Working knowledge of English (proficiency/level C) is required.

Duration:

At least 3 months (May/June to August/September 2020)

Learning Elements:

At the end of the assignment, the Intern should have:

  1. General understanding of WFP’s work in the Asia and the Pacific Region, as well as at the corporate level, on commitments to supporting governments to achieve zero hunger through social protection and school feeding systems
  2. Very good understanding of programmatic analysis and the knowledge management for Social Protection, School Feeding (SF) and CBT at regional level
  3. Good knowledge on the management of the electronic library system (of documentation on SF programs in the region)
  4. Development of drafting/presentation skills by producing and presenting case studies on School Feeding activities in the region to the team

Terms and Conditions:

  1. The PD intern will be paid a monthly stipend of approximately USD 750 per month as a contribution to basic subsistence costs.
  2. WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas, and related costs.
  3. WFP will reimburse travel tickets for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  4. WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognized institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
  5. Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply: sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
