European youth portal provides a volunteer opportunity which is aiming to offer support for the autistic youth in their everyday life by developing activities with a focus in integrating them alongside typical youth, providing support in everyday life at the daycare center, promote their needs and make their stories known in the community. It's welcoming any candidate that is interested in this topic, has good communication skills, patient and wants to improve their journalistic skills.

Eligibility:

  1. You must be on a medium level in English. 
  2. You should be motivated to work with autistic persons.
  3. You should be available for the entire 10 months period of the stage. 
  4. You must be open-minded and wants to improve the community with a teamwork spirit and have a willingness to test living in another country and culture.

Funding:

  • Volunteers will be accommodated in rented apartments, in Craiova city, Romania. Each volunteer will share a room with another volunteer, same-gender rooms. The bedroom will be equipped with two individual beds and basic furniture for depositing personal items. The apartment will have a shared bathroom with a washing machine.
  • The kitchen will be equipped with basic utensils for the volunteers to be able to prepare their own food. A food allowance of 150 euros will be provided to the volunteer at the end of each month.
  • Local transportation will be covered monthly for the association for all buses.
  • There will be a pre-departure training in order to clarify and set the right expectations of the volunteer:
  1. Arrival training: documents, associations rules, activities expected, city tours and team-building training. 
  2. On arrival training and mid-term training organized by the national agency of Romania in a different city, Romanian language classes, training about the autistic disorder and how to interact and work with autistic persons, weekly mentorship sessions.
