Norwegian Refugee Council is offering a Job opportunity to Bachelor holders to work in Syria. The successful applicant will deliver of awareness sessions and activities for/with parents; plan and follow-up on the delivery of non-formal education activities for children/youth. She/he has the obligation to timely flag potential challenges and risks. and any other tasks related to the job.

Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute, under the coordination of the education officer, to the planning of the assigned education activities for children/youth (schedule, locations, resources, and targets), in line with NRC's education strategy, yearly planning, targets, and quality standards. 
  2. Is directly responsible for the quality and timely implementation of all planned activities and achievement of the targets set: 
  3. direct planning and facilitation of training for teachers and facilitators, and beneficiaries of vocational training, followed by technical support and coaching
  4. planning and facilitation of children/youth-led activities
  5. delivery of awareness sessions and activities for/with parents;
  6. plan and follow-up on the delivery of non-formal education activities for children/youth.
  7. She/he has the obligation to timely flag potential challenges and risks.
  8. Contribute to the assessment and selection of schools, venues, and centers for the implementation of educational activities.
  9. Responsible for the identification of key resources/stakeholders in the assigned schools, venues, centers, and communities.
  10. Establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with the school principal, teachers, staff, parents, students, facilitators, center/venue managers, and community representatives.
  11. Provide support to the technical education unit, as per need, for the design/contextualization (in English and Arabic) of education materials and tools, in line with NRC's strategy and quality standards. 
  12. Ensure the monitoring and quality check of  the NRC activities conducted in the assigned schools/centers
  13. Contributing to data collection, documentation, data analysis and drafting of regular activity implementation and monitoring reports
  14. Prepare all administrative, logistical, and financial arrangements and documentation for the activities assigned/coordinated, as per NRC standards.
  15. Assist in the selection process of the mobile resources needed to support the implementation of the education programs.
  16. Support the community outreach efforts and the beneficiaries' selection.
  17. Can be deployed temporarily to other field locations for initial assessments, the delivery of education assistance
  18. Can be re-allocated temporarily to other positions or requested to support other education activities that require a similar expertise, as per the education program priorities.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum Bachelor Degree preferably in Education, related social field, or Economics.
  2. Previous experience preferably as an education assistant.
  3. Previous experience from working in a complex and volatile context
  4. Previous relevant experience  of minimum 1 year from working in education for children and/or youth (planning, implementing/overseeing the implementation and reporting education activities/projects)
  5. Good knowledge of English and Arabic, both written and verbal. 
  6. Experience of min. 1 year in teaching or facilitating training for youth or teachers supervision of vocational training.
  7. Experience of min 1 year in facilitating activities with children and/or youth
  8. Experience in building a relationship with key stakeholders (e.g: schools principals, communities, etc)
  9. Experience in overseeing the implementation of educational activities and reporting.
  10. Knowledge of active learning strategies Good understanding of the public education system in Syria

Benefits:

  • Contract period: Up to one year, renewable based on NRC fund and performance.
  • Salary/benefits: According to NRC's salary scale and terms and conditions.
