International civil aviation organization provides an internship opportunity in Canada in integrated aviation analysis, ANB. The Air Navigation Bureau (ANB) is responsible for providing technical guidance to the Air Navigation Commission (ANC), the Council, and the Assembly. It provides technical expertise in aviation-related disciplines to states, industry and all elements of the Organization. The Bureau is also responsible for maintaining and implementing the Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP) and Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP), including its aviation system block upgrades as well as producing yearly safety and air navigation status reports. The Bureau develops technical studies and proposals for Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), and Procedures for Air Navigation Services (PANS) for further processing by the governing bodies of ICAO. The Bureau also develops related procedures and guidance material. The Bureau also manages the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program (USOAP) and continuous monitoring approach that monitors all states on a continuous basis. The duration of the internship is between two to six months. The intern is expected to work five days a week, on a full-time basis. 

Eligibility:

  1. Candidates are required to have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree program (second-level university degree or higher) in a field of study related to statistics.
  2. Applicants pursuing studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages should have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree. 
  3. The applicant should have fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English. 
  4. Working knowledge of a second language of the organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is preferred.
  5. Interns are not paid. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern. 
  6. Interns shall not be eligible to be engaged in any other form of employment within ICAO during the period of internship and shall not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for the six months immediately following the end of their internship. 

Your Responsibilities:

If you are accepted at this opportunity, You will:

  • Support the collection, validation, and analysis of multiple types of data and information used to assess risks in the global air transportation system. 
  • Work assisting the ICAO secretariat and other stakeholder organizations involved in collaborative information sharing initiatives. 
  • Support ongoing research to determine the statistical relevance of potential predictive safety indicators used to evolve ICAO’s proactive safety analysis processes. 
  • Assist in the development of statistical models used in proactive safety management. 
  • Assist in the maintenance of the ICAO Accident/Incident Data Reporting (ADREP) system by supporting the collection, classification and archiving of data contained in accident and incident reports provided to ICAO by its member states. 
  • Support internal quality assurance processes used to determine the accuracy, validity, consistency, and timeliness of ICAO data sources.
