United Nations (UN) is offering a Job opportunity to work as an Editorial Assistant in the USA. The successful applicant will be responsible for the daily preparation and publication of the UN Journal. Ensures that all staff in the Unit, including temporary staff, has basic computer equipment and do all related tasks.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in producing the digital journal via the Journal Content Management System (JCMS) platform.
  2. Assists in screening all text submitted for Journal publication in order to ensure compliance with submission standards
  3. Monitors verify accuracy for incoming and outgoing texts and inform supervisor of technical problems or concerns for the translation.
  4. Format the elements and keeps all concerned informed of changes in processing schedules
  5. revises in English and French
  6. Acts as a focal point for gDoc, JCMS and social media (Twitter and Facebook).
  7. Provides reference assistance to co-workers as needed.
  8. Maintains the Unit’s documents, publications in the shared file system for easy reference.
  9. Ensures that all staff in the Unit, including temporary staff, has basic computer equipment, software, telephone and e-mail services; takes charge of all arrangements connected with this task.
  10. Provides basic computer technical support to all staff in the Unit
  11. performs basic troubleshooting functions in a timely manner
  12. maintains contact with Business Analysis Section (BAS) and reports problems to the BAS Journal Support Team when required.
  13. Carries out other tasks requested by the Supervisor or the Project Manager
  14. covers other General Service staff functions when a staff member is absent.

Eligibility:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Work Experience:
  1. A minimum of five years of experience in composing, formatting, proofreading informal translation is required.
  2. Experience with online search desirable.
  3. Experience in social media tools desirable.
  4. Experience in providing a reference or technical support to language staff is desirable.
  • Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
