The Bank also launched a joint programme with the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in Trieste, Italy, to support capacity building to build critical mass in the areas of science, technology and innovation (STI) to meet the sustainable development challenges of member countries (www.twas.org).

In order to combine academic rigor and cost reduction, the IDB has established a partnership program with reputable universities around the world, under which the host universities will play an important role in providing students with the services, guidance and orientation necessary for their academic success. Through these strategic partnerships, the IDB also aims to ensure that its graduates are ready to dedicate themselves to serving their communities and their country.
Today, the partnership program is being successfully implemented:
In addition, the IDB is currently working in partnership with the Ministry of Education of Malaysia and Tunisia, the Council of Higher Education of Turkey and the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) in Morocco, National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent University of Information Technologies. It should be noted that these entities have been quite generous in reserving places for IDB students on a free or subsidized basis.
A portal for alumni/graduates is being developed to link them across national borders, in order to broaden the impact of their expertise for the benefit of member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries around the world. This is the IDB's vision to keep former graduate fellows together, keep in touch with them, and invite them to participate, among others, in an annual call for innovation through its newly launched "Engage" platform and "Transform" fund. Winners will receive financial assistance to transform their innovative ideas into development solutions that can be commercialized.
