The Tomorrow’s Leaders Graduate Program (TLG) is a Master's scholarship program funded by the U.S. Department of State’s U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).

Program Details:

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Graduate Program (TLG) is a leadership training program by the U-S- Department of State Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). Its objective is to support academically qualified and economically deserving students in the MENA region by providing graduate study and organized research that advances knowledge, furthers the professionalization of emerging leaders, and contributes to the implementation of socially relevant initiatives.

The first AUB-MEPI-TLG program aims to nurture leadership skills in its graduate students and emphasizes on research in the areas of Policymaking, Gender Studies, and Resource Management (PGRM). It grants twenty scholarships to academically qualified and economically deserving students who apply to any of the thirty-one eligible graduate study programs at AUB spanning the faculties of Agricultural and Food Sciences (FAFS), Arts and Sciences (FAS), Health Sciences (FHS), and the Olayan School of Business (OSB).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Citizen of Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria (residing outside Syria), Tunisia, or Yemen,.U.S. citizens and Green Card holders are not eligible for the program
  • Academically promising student as per AUB's admissions guidelines
  • Economically disadvantaged student as per MEPI and AUB's Financial Aid policies
  • Students with the potential to address local, national, and/or regional problems.

Benefits:

In addition to completing program requirements, MEPI-TLG scholars will:

  • Work on a particular research project that is associated with their program of study.
  • Enroll in two additional courses on Gender Studies.
  • Enroll in an additional course on Data Science (applies to MEPI-TLG LiDS only). 
  • Be involved in leadership training, civic engagement, volunteering, and community service activities, in a variety of NGO’s and CSO’s.
  • Pursue internships with numerous private sector and public sector organizations in Lebanon and in the region.

Funding:

  • Full tuition coverage
  • Housing at AUB for the academic year (4 months of regular semesters, 1 or 2 winter semesters plus additional if summer courses are needed or your research programs/internship requires that you reside on campus)
  • Health insurance
  • Tickets, entrance visa and residency permit fees where applicable
  • $600 USD monthly stipend for meals & living for the academic months
  • Books
  • Laptop computer
  • Yearly round trip ticket from and to your home country where applicable
  • Civic leadership workshops
  • International travel, internships, and conferences

Aiming to advance stability and prosperity in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) program supports governments and their citizens to achieve shared political, economic and stability objectives. The MEPI program responds to needs and emerging opportunities for citizens and organizations that target two core objectives: Participatory Governance and Economic Opportunity. A cross-cutting theme is a focus on government-citizen relations: empowering partnerships between citizens, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and government institutions to promote shared solutions for the people of MENA.
