IBM is offering a full-time of a part-time internship opportunity to work on Open Source Projects for Linux on IBM Z in Germany for 2020. Open source has become the key to the success of each popular project. IBM has embraced Open Source and has become one of the pillars of the IBM strategy. IBM Z is the most secure platform where you can run your workload. However, Open Source communities do not have IBM Z hardware always available for building and testing. The state-of-the-art to build and test no-x86 software is to use an emulator.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  1. You will work on various Open Source projects to integrate IBM Z emulation in their CI/CD infrastructure. 
  2. Your responsibility consists of understanding the infrastructure of each project and enable IBM Z emulation for building and testing. 
  3. The Open Source projects, you will focus on, are Container/Cloud oriented and the base for Kubernetes and Openshift. 
  4. You will become familiar with a lot of projects used in the Kubernetes field like (Kubernetes, Calico, Istio, Tekton, Terraform), Qemu, and various CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Travis. 
  5. This is a great opportunity to closely work with Open Source communities and IBM Linux teams, and have a first experience of how enterprise companies deal with Open Source.

Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of Linux, Bash, Git, container tools (docker, podman, cri-o).
  2. English C-level, German A2.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise:

  1. Kubernetes.
  2. CI/CD tools (Jenkins, travis).
  3. Qemu/libvirt.
  4. German B-level.
