The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is offering a job opportunity for an Information and Communication Technologies Associate in Amman, Jordan for 2020. Jordan has been very hospitable towards asylum seekers and refugees in times of conflict which the region has been facing for years. Jordan hosts around 745,110 refugees from 57 different nationalities registered with UNHCR, including 655,435 Syrian refugees, in addition to more than 2.2 million Palestinian refugees registered with UNRWA residing in host communities and in refugee camps. UNICEF is also working on providing vulnerable Syrian refugees living in Jordan with access to improved social protection and engagement opportunities under the Syrian Volunteering project which provides access to job opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support in monitoring and supervising ICT activities in the camps, including reporting and ensuring program-ICT related projects are executed within allocated budgets and timelines.
  2. First-line support for Meraki cloud network, monitor and maintain the internet status for all centers in the camp.
  3. Responsible for business analysis, design and development, and rollout ICT projects.
  4. Provide support and technical assistance to the country office in the identification, selection, concept design, deployment and sustainability of technology interventions to address bottlenecks towards the achievement of program results.
  5. Support in monitoring the progress of T4D projects, take appropriate control and corrective measures.
  6. Working in implementing ICT activities, initiatives, and projects.
  7. Provide ICT support for the UNICEF program and its operations.
  8. Provide timely and effective end-user assistance to the staff members in the operation of UNICEF standard computer applications and equipment, and resolve day to day hardware/software problems.
  9. Support in following up and engagement with the telecommunications companies and regulatory authorities for ICT-communications projects in camps.
  10. Support different T4D projects U-report, RapidPro, ArcGIS, powerBi...etc.
  11. Provide support with different offline/online in the field, on data collection tools, as Kobo Toolbox, ODK, MS Forms, ArcGIS survey 123.
  12. Providing first level support for UNICEF JCO staff, when required, as support on hardware and software configuration of equipments.
  13. Build capacity of program staff in utilizing and administering T4D tools such as a mobile-based system for real-time information, BI tools, data visualization and analysis, among others.
  14. Liaise with the regional office, UNICEF headquarters to keep abreast of new initiatives and opportunities to innovate and modernize office operations and to contribute to the collective ICT evaluation.

Education/Experience/Language requirements:

  1. A University degree in computer science, software engineering or information technology management is required.
  2. At least 1 Year experience in cloud network technologies.
  3. At least 1 Year experience in different tools for data visualization and analysis.
  4. At least 1 Year experience in different data collection tools, as kobo and survey 123.
  5. Experience with ICT hardware, smart devices, IOT, mobile phones and web-based technologies. 
  6. Solid experience with database design, SQL certificate is preferable.
  7. Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
