The European Youth Portal is offering a volunteer opportunity at the Rapatac Center in Sweden, where the volunteer will work with children in the ages 6-18 years old. Rapatac has been creating activities for children and youth for twenty years. Supporting children and youth with schoolwork is of major importance at Rapatac. The activity center, therefore, has one area that focuses on support in homework and reading for all children. The center offers activities in the areas of technology, culture and media, physical activity, environment and sustainability, music, social activities and so much more. Participate in this volunteer service if you enjoy being part of children's development, doing good for the community and at the same time want to develop your leadership and communication skills.

Funding:

  • The volunteer lives in a fully furnished apartment 10 minutes from the activity center together with other volunteers in the project. 
  • Local transport in Sandviken and flight-tickets to and from the volunteer's home country is arranged by Rapatac. 
  • Pocket money is paid 5 Euro per day. On top of that, the volunteer will be given money for food costs. The money will be paid to the volunteer on a monthly basis.

Volunteer Qualifications:

Most important is that you like working with children! We expect you to lead child activities with support from mentors. Volunteers with competence in dance Science/technology/programming Music/media Physical activities/Outdoor skills We value capacities as Social skills Liability Flexibility Patience Experienced work with children is meritorious. 

Note: You can't use any kind of tobacco.

Duration:

The program runs for 46 weeks between 1 September 2020 to 31 July 2021.

The European Youth Portal is a multi-lingual website addressing young people in Europe and providing access to youth-related European and national information. The aim of the European Youth Portal is to provide young people aged 13 to 30 across Europe with information and opportunities around a wide range of topics based on the EU Youth Strategy, including education, employment, participation, culture, social inclusion, health, mobility, and volunteering. One of its major strengths is that this content is provided at European and national levels through a partnership between the European Commission and Eurodesk, and is available in up to 27 different languages, covering 33 countries.
