Fulbright is offering the Foreign Student Exchange Program for the 2021-2022 academic years. The Fulbright Program enables Algerian students to pursue graduate-level study in the United States of America. Participants also have the unique opportunity to experience life in the United States and share Algeria’s unique culture and traditions with Americans. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Must be an Algerian citizen; individuals of other nationalities cannot apply in Algeria. 
  2. U.S. citizens or green card holders are not eligible to apply. 
  3. Must reside in country throughout the application, selection and placement process. 
  4. (Optional): Must have two years of professional work experience. 
  5. Must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (4 years program under the classical system or 5 years program under the LMD system (License plus M1/M2 degrees). 
  6. Must have a strong academic background. 
  7. Must be proficient in English with a minimum TOEFL IBT score of 92 or an IELTS score of 6.5 overall (no single band under 6).
  8. Preference is given to students who have little or no previous experience studying or living in the United States.
  9. Selected candidates should be available for interviews in Algiers during first or second week of June 2020
  10. Candidates who wish to study medicine, veterinary science and dental science are ineligible for a Fulbright grant

Required Documents:

  1. Translated academic transcripts and diplomas along with copies of the original documents. Translated documents must be done by a sworn translation office. 
  2. TOEFL or IELTS scores no more than two years old and GRE General Score. The GMAT score is required for applicants applying for MBA programs only. 
  3. An up-to-date CV detailing all prior education and work experience. 
  4. Three letters of reference. If letters of reference are in French or Arabic, an official translated version in English is needed. 
  5. A personal statement in English up to 600 words in length.
  6. A research proposal in English relating to the field of study (if applicable). 

Note: An incomplete application with missing all or any of the above-mentioned supporting documents will not be considered. 

Application Tips: 

  1. Write clearly, using professional and understandable language. 
  2. Demonstrate why you have chosen your field of study and how you are qualified. 
  3. Proofread all materials for grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. 
  4. Refrain from using sarcasm, jokes or inappropriate humor. 
  5. Cite any outside sources used in your essays, as plagiarism will result in disqualification.
