Fulbright Egypt is offering a fully-funded grants for graduates of Islamic Studies from relevant faculties at Al Azhar University or the faculties of Dar Al Ulum to pursue Master’s degrees, or Ph.D. degrees or to conduct research in Islamic Studies in the U.S.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Egyptian citizenship. Holders of U.S. green cards and/or passports are ineligible.
  • Applicants must be residing in Egypt throughout the application, selection, placement and pre-departure processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of “Good”.
  • For Visiting Student Researcher applicants: Proof of registered doctoral degree at a university in Egypt
  • Language Requirements:
  1. For Master’s or Visiting Student Researcher grants: Minimum valid TOEFL (ITP) score of 450 or Internet-based TOEFL iBT 45, or IELTS 5.0
  2. For Ph.D. degrees applicants: minimum valid TOEFL (ITP) score of 550 or iBT 80, or IELTS 6.5.
  • Applicants must successfully complete all the steps of the application, assessment, and selection process and successfully finalize all required procedures.

  1. Online Application
  2. Copies of certificates and transcripts for all post-secondary degrees in English
  3. Three Recommendation Letters
  4. For Master’s degrees or Visiting Student Researcher grants applicants: minimum valid TOEFL (ITP) score of 450 or its equivalent iBT (45), or IELTS (5)
  5. For Ph.D. degrees applicants: minimum valid TOEFL (ITP) score of 550 or its equivalent iBT (80), or IELTS (6.5)
  6. For Visiting Student Researcher grants applicants: Proof of registered doctoral degree at a university in Egypt
  7. Scanned copy of the original valid National ID
  8. Scanned copies of any previous U.S. J1 or J2 visas (if applicable)

Grant Types:

  • Master’s Degree: grants for individuals wishing to pursue a Master’s degree in the U.S.
  • Ph.D. Degree: grants for individuals wishing to pursue Ph.D. studies in the U.S.
  • Visiting Student Researcher: grants for individuals registered for Ph.D. degrees who wish to conduct research and/or gather data in the U.S. for 6 to 9 months.
