AIAS Foundation is offering scholarships for women who intend to pursue a career in any aspect of video games including art, animation, programming, engineering, game direction, game design, sound design, law, marketing, and business administration.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Must be a full-time undergraduate student or a graduate (Master - PhD) student attending an accredited college or university during the 2020-21 academic school year.
  2. Must be 21 years or older by February 14, 2021. If under 21, must acknowledge that they are not eligible to participate in activities during D.I.C.E. Summit including the mentor program on-site.
  3. Major: Any field. 
  4. GPA: 3.3 minimum on a 4.0 scale.
  5.  Applicants do not need to be a US citizen or permanent resident to apply. 
  6. Family members of the AIAS Foundation board and staff and individual major donors of the Foundation (defined as contributors of at least $1000 in donation) are not eligible to apply for the scholarship. 
  7. Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply.

Required Documents:

  • Two pages (maximum) personal statement, including:
  1. Information about your studies and how you will benefit the game industry
  2. A statement addressing your service, leadership, character, and financial need. 
  • Two current, signed letters of recommendation: 
  1. Letters of recommendation must be from colleagues or professors from your current academic program, administration, and/or professors who know you individually.
  2. Letters of recommendations must address your potential to make a significant contribution to the game industry through character, service, or leadership abilities. 

Scholarship Value:

The student scholarship winners will each receive $2,500 while professional scholars will receive a travel stipend to another video games conference

About AIAS:

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) was founded in 1996 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and recognition of the interactive arts. The organization has more than 30,000 members. The mission of the AIAS is to promote and advance the worldwide interactive entertainment community; recognize outstanding achievements in the interactive arts and sciences; and host an annual awards show, the D.I.C.E. Awards, to enhance awareness of the interactive art form. Other special programs and initiatives led by the AIAS also include the prestigious D.I.C.E. Summit, bringing together the top video game designers and developers from around the world and business leaders to discuss the state of the industry, its trends and the future.
