UN Volunteers platform is offering an online volunteer opportunity, as it is looking for 5 volunteers from developed nations and other locations that can help raise funds for the PASDO to use in helping Nigerians who, by virtue of the widespread lock-downs that have completely crippled their daily income, are suffering economic hardships and are increasingly facing acute shortages of foodstuff, water, soaps and other basic needs.

As coronavirus (covid-19) finds its way into Africa's most populous country, Nigeria, the governments at the federal and state levels have imposed lock-downs in a bid to curb its spread and minimize casualty. These lock-downs, which have only lasted for a few days, are beginning to have serious economic and food-security implications in a country where a vast majority of the population depend on daily wages to feed and cater for very basic needs. An increasing number of people are now being faced with making a decision between staying at home to die of hunger or risking contracting the virus by going out to work for food and damning the consequences on themselves and on the larger society. PASDO, under its Coronavirus (COVID-19) Crisis Response Program for Nigeria (CCRPN), is leading efforts to provide struggling families and individuals with food and other basic needs, which is one of the most practical ways to keep them at home in order to control the spread of the virus.
