The International Rescue Committee (IRC) offers a job opportunity for a Basic Literacy and Numeracy Educator to join the team in Bekaa, Lebanon for 2020. 

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Working hours: 35 hours per week divided as follows: 5 days a week (Each day, will teach 2 classes of 3.5 hours each).
  2. Provide effective teaching in basic literacy and numeracy to out of school children in IRC/UNHCR agreed upon locations.
  3. Implement child –centered teaching methods, and diverse teaching techniques to engage children. 
  4. Enhance communication with parents through though proper communication channels with parents through Education Officers.
  5. Prepare teaching hand outs and activity sheets prior to sessions where appropriate.
  6. Assess children’s learning progress using assessment tools as provided by the IRC.
  7. All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.

Qualifications:

  1. BA in Education, teaching diploma or certificate in related fields.
  2. Experience teaching classes to children.
  3. Experience with extremely vulnerable children is a plus.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children.
  5. Able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting.
  6. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
