Online Volunteer Opportunity in Translation for the OCHA of the UN

The United Nations ,in cooperation with the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), is offering an online volunteer opportunity in Translations of Human Resources Related Communications, Guidance, Policies and Strategies (English - Arabic). Two volunteers are needed for this opportunity and they will be required to work for 1-5 hours per week for 16 weeks.

Task:-

  • In order to ensure accessible and effective internal communications with all staff around the world, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) would like to engage an online volunteer with Arabic proficiency to translate internal communication materials, including FAQs on COVID-19 and other relevant human resources related communications, policies and guidance. 
  • OCHA HR anticipates numerous documents (emails, FAQs, guidance notes etc.) to be translated over the next several months.

Objectives:-

  • The OCHA Human Resources Section is seeking support to translate human resources related communications and documents from English into French, Arabic and Spanish to make important messages more accessible to all OCHA personnel. 
  • The online volunteer will be helping to support internal communications at a crucial time, as OCHA strengthens its emergency response efforts in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. 
  • The online volunteer will be supporting OCHA HR to communicate with staff around the world, as they deliver lifesaving support to people in need.

Requirements:-

  • UN OCHA seeks online volunteers who are Arabic native speakers with excellent language skills in English. 
  • The volunteer should enjoy writing and be detail oriented. 
  • Professional experience or qualifications in translation is an asset. 
  • Experience in human resources management or internal communications is desirable.
