The Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Emissions is delighted to launch the new New Zealand Global Research Alliance Doctoral Scholarship programme. If you are from a developing country and are ready to complete your PhD in science, you can do it in New Zealand for free.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Applicant must be from a developing country
  2. You must have an offer of place for a (direct-start) PhD programme at a New Zealand university (this may be conditional or non-conditional)
  3. You must conduct your PhD study in New Zealand (not from a distance)
  4. You cannot hold citizenship or permanent residency status in New Zealand or Australia
  5. Your PhD research topic must be related to greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural systems
  6. Your research may be hosted/facilitated by any New Zealand research organisation, however, your PhD programme must be organised through a New Zealand university

Funding:

The NZ-GRADS Scholarship covers the following for a total of three years (36 months):

  1. New Zealand University annual tuition fees and associated student levies up to a total of $10,000 NZD per year
  2. An annual living stipend of $28,000 NZD per year (tax free)
  3. Medical insurance cover up to $700 NZD per year
  4. Visa application costs to a maximum of $1,000
  5. Return flights to New Zealand up to a maximum of $6,000
  6. Book and thesis preparation allowance of up to $1,500
