The Shanghai Government Scholarship for international students 2020 is accepting applications. The Shanghai scholarship for international student has been created to support outstanding international students willing to undertake studies at prestigious universities in the shanghai municipality.

The programme is funded by the Shanghai Government and is open for studies at undergraduate, master and PhD levels. The scholarship programme offer two schemes. The Type A (full scholarship) and Type B (partial scholarship) to recruit foreign students willing to study in Shanghai. Shanghai is the China’s biggest city and a global financial hub.

The Shanghai Government Scholarship programme offers two schemes. Type A (full scholarship) and Type B (partial scholarship). Details are provided below.

Undergraduate Programme

  1. Scholarship type A :
    • Monthly stipend (RMB 2500/Month)
    • Tuition waiver
    • Medical Insurance
    • Accommodation allowance (RMB 700/Month)
  2. Scholarship type B:
    • Tuition waiver
    • Medical Insurance

Master Program

  1. Scholarship type A :
    • Monthly stipend (RMB 3000/Month)

Doctoral Program

Shanghai Government Scholarship Eligibility

The following are general requirements Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS), applicants should meet:

  1. Be a non-Chinese citizen.
  2. Be in Good health both physically and mentally.
  3. Students applying for the undergraduate programs, should obtain a high school degree or above and be no more than 25 years old;
  4. for the graduate programs, students should have a bachelor or above degree and be no more than 35 years old;
  5. for the PhD programs, students should have a master degree or above with academic research ability, and be no more than 40 years old.
  6. Students applying for the pre-college program should obtain a high school degree under the age of 23 years old, with a letter of pre-admission of undergraduate program by a Shanghai university.
  7. Demonstrated proficiency in Chinese or English. For details please refer to Language Requirement for each university;
  8. Satisfy entry requirements of the chosen university and program;
  9. Applicant that has received any other scholarships offered by Chinese government or organizations is not eligible to apply.

How to Apply for the Shanghai Government Scholarship

Eligible applicant who would like to apply for the SGS Scholarship need to click on the apply button below. They will have access to the “Study in Shanghai website”, which provides information on universities, courses, application periods and procedures. Applicants must follow instructions to fill in required information and upload necessary documents (shown in the application system).
