UNESCO offers an internship opportunity in translation, organization conference in Paris for 1 to 6 months. The intern will have the opportunity to learn and support the over-all work of the bureau where he/she will be assigned to and will be selected according to their specialization and assigned to the appropriate section in the bureau. The intern will report to an assigned supervisor. Activities will vary depending on the requirements of the assignment and specific terms of reference and learning objectives will form part of the contract. The UNESCO internship program offers you practical work in a multicultural environment. Aside from helping you understand the organization’s mandate, programs and main thrusts, it also enhances your academic knowledge with relevant work assignments that can help you prepare for your future career. As an intern, you will assist in providing operational support for the bureau in charge of organization of conferences, languages and documents; translation, production and distribution of documents and publications. 

Eligibility:

Applicants to UNESCO internships must meet the following academic requirements at the time of application as interns are selected on a competitive basis:

  1. Accountability and communication skills.
  2. Innovation and knowledge sharing and continuous improvement skills.
  3. Planning and organizing skills.
  4. Teamwork skill.
  5. Completed university studies (bachelor's degree or equivalent) at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing the assignment.
  6. Enrolled in a graduate program (second university degree or master's degree or equivalent, or higher), at the time of application or have graduated with a university degree (first or second degree as defined above), and must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
  7. Be at least 20 years old.
  8. An excellent command in both written and spoken skills of English or French. A working knowledge of the other language (English or French) is an asset, and may be required for internships in secretarial and assistantship assignments at the headquarters.
  9. An excellent knowledge of computer systems and office-related software.
  10. The ability to work well in a team and adapt to an international working environment.
  11. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  12. Proof of health insurance coverage from a valid major global medical insurance company for the duration of the internship.
  13. Provide a medical certificate of good health prior to starting the internship.
