The American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) awards two prizes for the best unpublished book manuscript on an Indian subject; The Edward Cameron Dimock, Jr. Prize in the Indian Humanities, and The Joseph W. Elder Prize in the Indian Social Sciences.
A prize committee will determine the yearly winners, though the committee may choose not to award prizes for any year in which worthy submissions are lacking. The prize will include a subvention of $2,500 for the press publishing the manuscript.

The American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) was formed in 1961 to further the knowledge of India in the United States by supporting American scholarship on India. The programs of AIIS promote and advance mutual understanding between the citizens of the U.S. and of India.
