Williams College seeks a collaborative and engaged professional to serve as the Assistant Director of the Office of Accessible Education. The Office of Accessible Education has two key areas of responsibility relating to Accessibility: legal compliance and the development of a culture of accessibility, and serves as an important campus resource for all segments of our community, playing an essential role in the development of policy and institutional norms.

Duties :

Conducts intake interviews with students and provides information about the accommodation process, specific accommodation options and services. Will also communicate determinations about appropriate accommodations to faculty and staff.
Collects, verifies, and maintains documentation in support of accommodation requests.
In consultation with members of the Accessible Education staff, ensures the effective implementation of accommodations and auxiliary aids and services for students.
Provides technical assistance and training support to students, faculty and/or staff when necessary.
Provides oversight of special projects conducted by student Accessibility Coordinators
Assists with the development of policies and procedures which reflect best practices among peer institutions.
Acts as a key resource for students, identifying appropriate campus resources and services.
Contributes content for the Accessible Education website.
Contributes data for annual and other departmental reports when necessary
Other duties as assigned in support of the Office of Accessible Education mission

Qualifications for Vacancy for Assistant Director :

Bachelor’s Degree required with a focus in disability studies, rehabilitation, counseling or a social science discipline preferred; Master's Degree preferred; or a combination of relevant education and experience
2 - 5 years higher education experience in supporting academic success required
Knowledge of the ADA and its 2008 Amendments(ADAAA), Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, FERPA, WCAG 2.0AA, and Assistive Technology
Experience interpreting clinical documentation and determining reasonable accommodations in a small liberal arts college environment
Professional experience working with and advocating for diverse student populations; a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion; strong understanding of complex issues as related to ableism, equity, diversity, and social justice
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively in writing within a professional context
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff
Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality for work with sensitive materials
