Duties

Directs the development, implementation, and management of safety and environmental programs:
1. Reviews regulations and maintains contact with regulatory agencies for new or additional requirements.
2. Also, works with the Human Resource Office on the development of policies and procedures for reducing and reporting incidents involving work-related injuries and illness.
3. Provides recommendations to the OEM for policy and procedure formulation in an effort to improve the safety and health of the college community.
4. Also, the incumbent is responsible for the documentation and maintenance of all environmental/hazardous waste training, waste manifests, exposure reports, annual generator reports, and any permits as required by local state, and federal regulations.
5. Likewise, responsible for the periodic inspection of campus facilities to ensure compliance with safety, fire safety, and environmental regulations.
6. Also, the candidate identifies deficiencies, makes recommendations, and works with campus and community personnel to correct deficiencies.

Additional Duties

 Assists the Radiation Safety Officer:
1. Maintains documentation of the receipt, storage, and disposal of radioactive material.
2. Also, he/she acts as the liaison with regulatory agencies on license renewal.
3. Additionally, the candidate provides training to mailroom personnel.
4. Furthermore, performs required monthly lab safety surveys and maintains monthly radioactive materials inventory.

Performs the duty of Coordinator of Equipment Supplies for the School of Arts and Science:
1. Orders supplies for the Science Department of the School of Arts and Science as requested.
2. Additionally, upon receipt inspects for damage, completeness, and places in required storage.
3. Also, provides department coordinators and the associate dean current information about the budget and provides guidance in preparation for the upcoming academic year budget.
4. Similarly, schedules regular preventive maintenance of equipment by qualified technicians and maintain a database of maintenance.
5. Likewise, maintains cold room storage of preserved specimens in a sanitary condition and inventory of contents.

Qualifications

1 Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Masters in Environmental Sciences, or Public Health desirable.
2. Also, five years of experience as environmental health and safety professional.
3. Likewise, OSHA 30-Hour training.
