About

Since 2016, Jusoor and its key partners at the Institute for International Education (IIE), Wilfrid Laurier University, Educational Testing Service (ETS), and Education USA have provided 33 bachelor and master scholarships to women pursuing a wide range of studies in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

In general the 100 Syrian Women, 10,000 Syrian Lives Scholarship is open to Syrian women who have demonstrated exemplary social service with leadership, academic excellence, and civic responsibility, who have characteristics reflecting the importance of empathy, humility, courage, and resilience, and who have potential to serve as global leaders.

At this time, there is no scheduled opening for this scholarship for 2020. Please follow us on Facebook and LinkedIn to see all updates. FUNDING DETAILS

The maximum award is USD $20,000. Funds may be used for tuition, mandatory fees (including student health insurance), living expenses, flights, and textbooks. The awardee will also be reimbursed up to USD $500 for visa-related costs with proof of receipts (the visa fee itself, costs for sending documents, and travel to visa appointments). Please note Jusoor cannot disburse any funds, including the visa cost reimbursement, until the awardee arrives in their country of study and opens a local bank account. All 100 Syrian Women scholars receive their award on a semesterly basis (not as a lump sum).

Please also note the award amount will be based on the following: the amount of your university tuition and mandatory fees; your projected living costs; your projected flight costs (two, one-way airfare tickets from your home to your university are included); and your projected textbook costs. All projected costs will be verified with your university. For those who plan to enroll in an academic program which is more than two regular semesters in duration (typically one fall and one spring semester), your award will be renewable on an annual basis. In other words, your award renewal will be contingent upon upholding the terms in your Jusoor contract, specifically your GPA.
