International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) is the largest and most comprehensive education initiative of the compost industry. It is celebrated nationwide and in other countries each year during the first full week of May. The goal of the program is to raise the awareness of the public regarding the benefits of using compost. The theme for the 2021 poster contest will in the United States is Grow, Eat…COMPOST…Repeat. The ICAW 2021 theme is based on the circular movement of the organics recycling process flowing from farm to table to farm again.

All artist are welcome to apply for this poster design competition. The panel of judges will be assessing the submissions for their Grades 9 to 12 category and the College students and adults category. The concept and images of the poster should be based on the benefits of compost. Compost is the focus of the contest. In order to be eligible to apply, your artwork must be original work and it must not contain additional words than the already approved ones by the Composting Council Research & Education Foundation (your poster must only include “International Compost Awareness Week May 2 – 8, 2021” along with the poster theme: “Grow, Eat…COMPOST…Repeat”).

The chosen winner for the 2021 ICAW Contest will receive a cash prize of USD 500 and they will have the4ir artwork published on a national scale where they will will be also included in the Composting Council Research & Education Foundation’s website with all the previous competition winners, as well as on the US Composting Council website too. The winning “poster artist” will be included on all print material and in any press releases in association with our annual ICAW celebration.
