As the extent of impact the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic continues to unfold, we understand many students may be experiencing exceptional hardships as a result of the stay-at-home orders and shifts to distance learning. Gonzaga Law has established the Zag Law Emergency Fund to help.
The School of Law annually awards more than $2 million in renewable scholarships to entering students. Scholarships are based upon scholastic merit, including undergraduate grades and performance on the LSAT.
All entering applicants are considered for scholarships by the Admissions Committee.
The requirements for renewal include full-time enrollment, currently defined as a minimum of 10 credits per term. If you reduce your schedule to part-time status, extend law school beyond three academic years, obtain credits from other schools or have disciplinary action brought against you, you may lose part or all of your scholarship. If your tuition costs during any term are less than your award for that term, your total award amount will be reduced accordingly. In addition, the award is conditional upon your obtaining a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 at the end of each spring term*
*For Executive Two-Year JD Program: the award is conditional upon your obtaining a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 at the end of your second term and at the end of your fourth term.
New students should also consider applying for the Thomas More Scholarship, a 100% tuition scholarship for students interested in dedicating their career to public service. Applications are separate from the admissions application, and are due by February 1st of each year.
A unique opportunity for incoming Gonzaga Law students, the Diversity in Technology and IP Law Scholarship and Internship includes an immersive multi-week program at an innovative tech company and a hands-on internship with SBMC in Spokane, WA.
Students who receive private scholarships from outside sources must report these scholarships to the Financial Aid Office.
We are required to include all outside scholarships as part of your financial aid offer and must also count them toward meeting financial need.
In cases where the receipt of an outside scholarships impacts a student’s financial aid offer, we reduce the loan program rather than reducing other scholarships.
Once you have notified us of scholarships you have received, we will adjust your award and send you a revised financial aid award notice.
The School of Law awards scholarships under several scholarship programs. The following scholarships are awarded annually. For incoming first year students, the application to law school serves as the application for scholarships. To receive scholarships in your second- and third-year of law school, you must reapply for them. Each year, notice and instruction will be sent to students via their law school e-mail accounts.
