IRC announces a full time job opportunity in USA to work as a community outreach assistant requisition. The community outreach assistant will play a key role in ensuring vulnerable refugees and immigrants served by the IRC in New Jersey have the information, tools and understanding to be healthy and effectively navigate local systems, benefits and resources. 

Eligibility:

You must have:

  1. At least one year of experience working with diverse populations, including English language learners.
  2. At least one year of experience facilitating education or other social services programming for vulnerable populations.
  3. Ability to use email, video conferencing, phone and basic MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  4. Proven commitment to maintaining confidentiality on sensitive and private communications.
  5. Proven success achieving goals and working effectively with all levels of staff in a multicultural environment.
  6. Written and spoken fluency in English and at least one other language spoken by IRC’s client population (Swahili, Spanish, French, Kirundi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto and/or Haitian Creole)
  7. Certificates or licenses in interpretation and/or translation preferred.
  8. Standard office working environment (NJ office is currently working remotely and anticipates the majority of tasks within this role will be completed remotely through 9/30/20. If position is extended, office leadership will reassess remote work arrangements at time of extension).

Your Responsibilities:

You will be responsible of:

  • Conduct outreach to local refugee populations to using identified community health education materials.
  • Facilitate in-language remote health education programming related to COVID-19 safety and other relevant health education needs, in individual and group formats.
  • Provide related interpretation services.
  • Collaborate with IRC staff across programs to support case management needs of select refugee families.
  • Case note and document services provided according to program guidelines.
