The Angry Bat invites applicants from around the world to the third edition of the Maribor photobook award. The award will be accompanied by an exhibition of selected photobooks from the call and will coincide with the exhibition “Borders”.
The theme of the photobook award is Changing realities ‒ what lies behind the horizon?
Human societies are constantly changing. The horizon is new for every generation, for every human. This is reflected clearly in our physical environment. Where there were once borders, today there are none. Where people used to move freely, they are now constrained by private property, surveillance, and the effects of climate change. How do people shape their lives among constant change? How do we make sense of new realities? How do we co-shape the future? The award is looking for photo books that are broadly connected to the topic and try to uncover the changing realities of our world in many different areas.
The winner will be awarded a 4000 EUR prize money ‒ no strings attached. Also, 2 runners up prizes of 500 EUR will be awarded. There is NO ENTRY FEE!
The Angry Bat is a publishing trademark of the Slovene photographer Matej Sitar. Its goal for the future is to publish as many limited edition photobooks as possible.
