The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is looking for a talented Research Intern to join the team in New York, USA for 2020.

Major Responsibilities:

Core Research Support:

  1. Assist Advisor for Policy and Planning and Director of Policy and Planning in core research, analysis and writing activities.
  2. Draft memos on a range of research topics.
  3. Summarize topics for briefings.
  4. Attend relevant policy events of interest.

Core Department Support:

  1. Attend departmental meetings and take meeting notes.
  2. Prepare materials for meetings.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Intern will learn to conduct research and analysis in a fast-paced INGO environment.
  2. Intern will learn to communicate effectively with colleagues at multiple levels.
  3. Intern will learn to write high-quality products in a professional setting.

Qualifications:

  1. Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in international relations, development, or other relevant degree.
  2. Prior experience interning or working in an organization focused on international affairs or humanitarian work, preferably for an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO).
  3. Excellent organizational skills: the ability to work independently & productively in a fast-paced environment and ability to effectively see projects through from start to finish.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to successfully and effectively liaise with a variety of people in a multi-cultural environment.
  5. Flexible work attitude, proactive, and demonstrated creativity: the ability to work productively in a team environment, anticipate issues before they arise, and problem solve creatively with minimal guidance.
  6. Fluency in English, both verbal and written is required.
  7. Excellent Computer skills: proficient in all MS Office, and some knowledge of database management and website development would be an asset.
