YPWC is currently looking for volunteers who will help in the formation of partnerships and also engaging youth organizations. Most of YPWC programs, center around youth empowerment and engagement and enhancing the opportunity structure of young people. For the first time, the organization is planning to have three activities for which volunteers will support by coordinating and identifying youth and partner organizations to work with. Activities will include organizing Facebook live events to support international days such as International Volunteer Day; identifying and profiling 'Youth Worker of the Month' and also editing blogs or posts from young people on development issues and country experiences. YPWC will provide all the needed support including a skype induction meeting for orientation about the task and expectations.

Background and Objectives:

Ghana is known to be one of the peaceful and economically growing countries in Africa. The nation and other developing countries have a youth population that obviously warrants government attention in addressing the needs of young people. Over the past years, a number of policies and programs have been put in place to address the challenges young people face and also to empower them. YPWC is one of the youth organizations in Ghana that is championing the role of young people in development issues. YPWC has found it needful to have a web platform (www.ypwc.org) as well as social media platforms ( https://twitter.com/ypwc and https://www.facebook.com/ypwc.org ) that help in connecting young people with development issues.

Requirements:

Knowledge about youth development. Excellent command over English in terms of writing and speaking. Previous experience developing communication or outreach strategies will be a useful asset. Experience in using social media tools and blogging. Selected volunteers will be offered an orientation to help them understand expectations better. YPWC will use skype or whats app to facilitate communication.

About the UN Volunteers:
