The Saïd Foundation is offering its scholarship for 30 postgraduate students from Syrian, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine, who pursue their degrees in the UK. This scholarship has been being offered annually since 1984. It is a fully-funded scholarship, and primarily offered for one-year postgraduate courses based in the UK. In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to consider candidates for two-year courses. The Saïd Foundation also offers one or two Ph.D./DPhil scholarships a year at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge only.

Eligibility for Master's Degree:

In order to be considered for a Saïd Foundation Scholarship all candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Hold Syrian, Jordanian, Lebanese or Palestinian nationality and must permanently reside in one of these countries. The Foundation will consider Syrians residing elsewhere due to current circumstances in that country.
  2. Hold an undergraduate degree that is equivalent to a UK 2.1 degree or higher. Candidates who are in the final year of their undergraduate degree will also be considered.
  3. Have work and/or voluntary experience that is relevant to their field of study and a clear career path on completion of their studies and return to their home country or region.
  4. Demonstrate leadership potential in their chosen field or sector.
  5. Have applied for an eligible course at a Foundation partner university (or have legitimate exceptional reasons for applying for a non-partner university).
  6. In order to be considered for a Saïd Foundation Scholarship candidates need to meet English language requirement. This is a score in IELTS of at least 6.0 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each band. However, some universities have higher English language requirements and it is your responsibility to check the eligibility of your English test results with your chosen university.
  7. Eligibility criteria for Ph.D./DPhil Programmes:

In addition to the above criteria, candidates for Ph.D./DPhil programs must also meet the following:

  1. Apply for a Ph.D. or DPhil course at either the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge only.
  2. Hold an existing teaching post at a university in their home country and can clearly demonstrate the need for the proposed research in their home country.
