Eligibility:

You must have:

  • Completed the secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and the duty station’s language, if different.
  • At this level job holders are expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of processes and activities related to monitoring that require some interpretation of standard guidelines/practices as well as recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff to coordinate and perform monitoring activities within a specific coverage area and provide reports to support the effective delivery of assistance packages.

It's preferred to have:

  • Experience in collecting program output and outcome data, conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, and reporting findings to management team, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Experience utilizing WFP monitoring and evaluation systems and standards.

Your Responsibilities:

These jobs are found primarily in WFP field based offices, and job holders typically report to program policy officer or program associate. However, the reporting lines may change depending on the size of the office. You will be responsible of:

  1. Verify the planned movements and distribution of food or non-food items, resolving routine issues and escalating where appropriate, to ensure that the quantity distributed and the quality of the operation is in line with WFP standards.
  2. Collect and summarize assistance program(s) data, collaborating with cooperating partners where required, conduct analysis and prepare reports in order to support program reviews and informative decision-making.
  3. Liaise with partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback and comments to support program reviews and improve services.
  4. Suggest improvements to field monitoring processes and procedures for efficient implementation of the assistance program.
  5. Arrange for regular meetings with community leaders and cooperating partners on commodity pipeline, distribution arrangements, food entitlements and other relevant issues to support effective communication flow and efficient operations.
  6. Allocate tasks to other staff, providing guidance and on-the-job training to support their development and high performance.
  7. Provide standard training for cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, monitoring tools and methods in order to support them to independently self-monitor and to contribute to the visibility of WFP in the coverage areas.
  8. Prepare field mission reports to document program implementation.
  9. Follow set emergency response processes and procedures for emergency food assistance.
  10. Understand and communicate the strategic objectives and helps teammates articulate WFP’s strategic objectives.
  11. Suggests potential improvements to team’s work processes to supervisor.
  12. Look for ways to strengthen people's skills and trains junior teammates on new skills and capabilities.
  13. Seeks opportunities to work with people from different backgrounds.
  14. Encourage innovation & creative solutions and explores ways to consistently be more efficient and accurate in own areas of work and shares new methods of work with colleagues.
  15. Takes responsibility for own tasks and notifies supervisor as soon as possible of potential delays in meeting deadlines or commitments.
  16. Connect and share across WFP units and suggests opportunities for partnering with other units to supervisor.
  17. Build strong external partnerships and identify opportunities to work with colleagues and partners in the field towards common goals.
  18. Be clear about the value WFP brings to partnerships and align own activities with supervisor’s priorities to fulfill internal and external partner needs.
  19. Displays basic understanding of WFP’s policies and strategies to perform monitoring and/or evaluation activities and their inter-relationship.
  20. Applies knowledge of WFP’s performance management system to manage resources and relationships to undertake monitoring actions or deliver straightforward evaluations of operations, programs, or processes to WFP monitoring and/or evaluation quality standards.
