Heidelberg University in Germany is offering a Master of Science in International Health (MScIH) Scholarship. The Master of Science in International Health (MScIH) is a modular program, allowing for full-time (1 year) and part-time (up to 5 years) study. Before commencing the program, applicants should decide which mode of delivery they want to follow. The Master of Science in International Health (MScIH) focuses on poverty-related health problems in low and middle-income countries. The program aims to provide students with a solid foundation in international public health principles and to equip them with the knowledge and competencies necessary to run and initiate sustainable programs for disease control, health promotion, and health services development across a wide range of populations and countries.

Program Outcomes:

AT THE END OF THE PROGRAMME, PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO:

  • Critically collect, analyze, and appraise qualitative and quantitative data relevant to the improvement of health and health care in low and middle-income societies. 
  • Identify and analyze interrelated determinants of health and major health problems of populations from a cross-disciplinary perspective in low and middle-income countries. 
  • Plan sustainable improvements of health systems considering the diverse intercultural settings as well as social and ethical responsibilities. 
  • Clearly communicate and work professionally in multi-disciplinary teams.

Eligibility Criteria:

The course is open to medical doctors and other professionals that hold a Bachelor's degree (4 years or equivalent qualification, at least 240 ECTS) in public health or social sciences based discipline. Furthermore, candidates are expected to have at least one year of relevant work experience in low and middle-income countries.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

TOEFL:

  • 580 paper-based.
  • 237 computer-based.
  • 92-93 internet-based.

IELTS:

  • 6.5 overall band score.

Scholarship Value:

The scholarship covers tuition fees, 14,100 EUR (1-year full-time study).
