The Scholarship Department of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung offers financial grants to highly-qualified postgrafuate students who evidence high levels of social and political engagement. Applications from Master and doctoral students from scientific and technical disciplines are actively encouraged, as well as from graduates of technical colleges.
These Scholarships are for MA and doctoral students from Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Tunisia, Yemen, Jordan, Morocco and Iraq.
For graduate students who want to study Master, the following requirements must be met:
Enrolment (or at least acceptance) at a public or publically accredited university in Germany.
Proof of a completed Bachelor’s degree or finished basic study (Diplom, state examination)
Outstanding academic performance
Social engagement in the spirit of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung
Proficiency in the German language (at least B-2 level). Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung does not fund German language courses.
The following cases aren’t eligible:
Finishing a degree already near completion.
Bachelor’s degree or basic studies.
A second course of study.
A work-based part-time degree programme.
Studying abroad in your home country or other third countries.
For doctoral students, the following requirements must be met:
Acceptance at a public or publicly accredited institution of higher learning in Germany or abroad
Supervision by a professor in Germany
Outstanding academic performance
Social engagement in the spirit of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung
High proficiency in German (proof of instruction required) – we cannot support German language courses.
For applicants who have already received a scholarship from other institutions, an RLS scholarship can only provided if the previous scholarship lasted less than two years. Every previous scholarship is calculated into the overall duration, i.e. subtracted from the maximum scholarship duration of two years.
Private stays in one’s home country or other third countries cannot be funded.
The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Foundation is a transnational alternative policy group and educational institution, centered in Germany and affiliated to the democratic socialist Left Party. The foundation's mission is to engage productively with what it sees as a diverse, pluralistic and transnational 'political left’, and to help develop its transformative capacities. To this end, the foundation's activities consists of two main tracks: general political education and academic/scientific work.
